Children are to be picked up promptly at dismissal time between 11:20 and 11:30 or 3:00. If a child is late being picked up, a $5 late fee will be imposed every 15 minutes past the pickup time. No student will be dismissed to anyone except a parent or someone on the child’s authorized pick up list. In the event that it is necessary for someone who does not have prior authorization to pick up the child, please send a written note or call the preschool to let them know.
ABSENTEEISM:
Please notify the school when your child will be absent due to illness, travel, or family circumstances.
HEALTH:
Each child is to have an updated Certificate of Immunization on file at the preschool. PLEASE MAKE US AWARE OF ANY ALLERGIES OR MEDICAL CONDITIONS YOUR CHILD MAY HAVE SO WE CAN CREATE A HEALTH CARE PLAN WITH YOU. Kennewick Noah’s Ark Preschool is a peanut/nut free school.
ILLNESS (WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME):
The following will be general guidelines for exclusion from school:
-
Elevated temperature of 100 or more.
-
Skin rashes of undetermined nature that could be contagious.
-
Diarrhea and /or vomiting two or more times in a 24 hour period.
-
Evidence of lice, scabies, or other parasitic infestation.
-
Severe and/or persistent coughing, yellow or green nose drainage.
-
Difficult or rapid breathing.
-
Conjunctivitis (pink eye).
If your child should become ill once school has begun, you will be notified.
ACCIDENT OR INJURY:
In the event of an accident or injury, we will administer minor first aid treatment. In the event of more serious injuries, the parent will be notified. Therefore, it is important to notify the school of any changes in home address or phone, or work phone numbers. In the case of extreme emergency, your child will be taken by ambulance to Trios Health.
HOW CAN PARENTS HELP WITH TRANSITION TO SCHOOL:
Preschool may be your child’s first separation from parents and home. Children get their cues from the adults around them. Parents may help with the transition by speaking encouragingly about the new experience of school. Have a morning or afternoon routine where you and your child do not feel rushed in coming to school. Upon arrival your child will hang up their coat and bag, say goodbye to you, and enter the classroom with the teachers.
DRESS:
Children should come to school in comfortable, washable play clothing. Children should wear shoes that are safe for running, jumping, and climbing. Please label coats, sweaters, and jackets with your child’s name. Your child will need a bag to carry all their artwork , projects, and papers home in. This should be a bag that is big enough and easy for the child to load themselves. A reusable cloth grocery bag that is open on top for easy access would work. Please check your child's bag after every school day to empty it and look over their work and check for any information sent home from teachers. Please label the bag with your child’s name on it as well. It is advisable for children to have a change of clothing in their bags in case of accidents.
TUITION:
There is a $60 registration fee for new students and $45 fee for returners. Enrollment is complete when registration fees are paid.
MONTHLY TUITION RATES
Two Day AM $160
Three Day AM $190
Four Day PM $225
Tuition is figured on an annual basis and paid monthly September-May the first week of each month. A late fee of $5.00 is added weekly to any tuition received after this unless prior arrangements have been made. Checks are to be made out to Kennewick Noah’s Ark Preschool. There is a tuition box by the coat hooks across from the preschool office where you can drop off your tuition payment. A discount of $10.00 per month is given for each additional child in a family. All returned checks will be charged the current bank charge-back fee. If it becomes necessary to withdraw your child, please notify the school two weeks in advance. Without advance notice, no tuition will be refunded.
BIRTHDAYS:
Each child’s birthday is celebrated on or as close to the actual date as possible. Children with summer birthdays can choose a day in April or May to celebrate with their friends. Parents can bring in a birthday treat for snack that day. Just let the teachers know you would like to do this.
SNOW DAY POLICY:
On the days that the Kennewick School District announces a 2 hour delay and morning classes cancelled, the preschool may still have school for the morning class. Afternoon classes are not affected. If the Kennewick school district has no school because of weather cancellation, Noah’s Ark Preschool will also be closed for that day. Check your email to see if we will be open and you can go to their website at KSD.org or tune in to KNDU T.V. for school schedule changes, delays, and cancellations. We try to follow the Kennewick School District’s lead but may at times close even when they are open due to conditions at the church. You will be contacted by email when that occurs. PLEASE MAKE SURE WE HAVE AN ACCURATE EMAIL ON FILE FOR YOUR FAMILY.
COMMUNICATIONS:
At Kennewick Noah’s Ark Preschool we strive to keep parents informed with what is going on both within the program, as well as your individual child. We are always willing to conference with you about your child by setting up a meeting time that is convenient for you. We also can be reached by phone at 586-2228 during office hours from 8:00-3:30 Monday-Thursday and 8:00-11:30 on Fridays during the school year. We send out a newsletter at the beginning of the month to help keep you informed of what is going on throughout the month. Be sure to check out our Parent Board at the preschool and our website https://kennewicknoahsarkp.wixsite.com as important information often is posted there also. Our email address is: kennewicknoahsarkpreschool@gmail.com
PARENT VOLUNTEERS:
We welcome parent volunteers at the preschool. It is usually best to let your child adjust to the new experience of school before volunteering. Perhaps you have a special skill or interest you would like to share with the class. Please ask the teachers to schedule a mutually agreeable time.
DISCIPLINE:
The first strategy for discipline at Kennewick Noah’s Ark Preschool is to anticipate and eliminate those areas in the environment that can lead to problems. Second we focus on positive reinforcement and creating an atmosphere that is respectful for all participants based on the Golden Rule of treating others as you would like to be treated. For those children who need the support of added structure, we will use redirection and increasing degrees of separation from an activity.
